Reflections

I had this grasshopper on my desk and when I saw this picture in a book, I just had to set up this scene. It made sense.

The cookie photographer

I was in Ueno Park in Tokyo in May when a woman approached our group of architecture students. We were standing near a museum, chatting and waiting for some people to meet us. She approached very gently, with a kind smile and friendly demeanor. Showed us a few sample photographs on her camera and asked if any of us would be willing to let her make our portraits with one of her cookies. Two of my classmates and I volunteered. You can see MIKITAKAHIRA WEB and her cookie project here.

These are my portraits:

I made these photos to illustrate a bike repair problem, but I like how they turned out.

indoor photos

I've been taking a lot of outdoor photos the past few days, and they're all very grey and cold. I took some indoor shots to balance out the grey. I'm ready for winter to pass.

We live by this steam plant. I've always felt visually and sculpturally intrigued by it. It makes me really happy and playful-like. I just love the colors, and how the boxes overlap and connect. I love the twirly silver whateverit'scalled smoke stack thing. I really love the yellow platform by the blue section. It's got a pre-school sensibility.

Today I finally photographed it.

I am so, so in love with this little photography blog: http://cafe69.exblog.jp/9406452/

It's in Japanese, and you have to scroll through each page to see one photo. You click on these little symbols at the bottom of each page that are framed by <> in order to navigate the images.

They're all about the little family and the dog.

animated gif time!

I unknowingly broke the rules when I made this series of photographs of Brian Knep's piece "Healing #1" at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Ooopsie, but they are too cool not to turn into an animated gif. The installation was incredible to interact with.

Accidental Cell Phone Image

My cell phone randomly takes photos. Here's another one that I really liked. Every time I look at it, I discern something slightly different.

Turismo para escoger

I'd forgotten about a photo shoot I did while working at elsalvador.com until I stumbled across it today on Octo Media.

This is the cover design for a magazine that had an article about tourism in El Salvador.

null

The photo button on my cell phone is sensitive and goes off when it's confined within a bag or pocket. Usually, the result is a black image. Yesterday, it went off while inside a mesh pocket on my bag. The result is this. I think that's my silhouette or shadow? I sure do like it.

tessellations

In ninth grade, I had an obsession with tessellations, which was probably the only moment in my educational history I can say I understood anything mathematical. I painted an entire wall in my bedroom with a giant wave tessellation pattern in aqua and royal blue. If only I'd kept a photo...

I found some amazing paper tessellation sculptures today. Here's the link to them all. Here's an image of one!

I would love to learn how to make these.

city shrinker images

Please, now, go and check out "city shrinker" a series of actual scenes that are photographed to appear like miniature toy sets.

I saw this yesterday and I cannot stop thinking about it. It's one of the most amazing things I've seen in a long time.

I haven't posted here in a long time. I hope that changes soon.

Hope all's well out there in the universe of creativity.

In need of Vulcans

Who should we elect to be the other Vulcans along with Sanguinetti A!?

catographer

Here's Fritz, a cat who wears a camera around his neck, which takes a picture every 15 seconds. Many shots are quite good! I especially loved the video at the bottom of the page.
