Question

Question - Why is it that exotic mosquito born diseases are ripe for comedy and yet local mosquito born diseases are not? Discuss.

Which local diseases exist?

I feel totally exposed for saying I don't know. As if I just said, "which other races exist besides White?" Forgive my ignorance. I've only been a victim of the foreign mosquito diseases.

Getting Dengue Fever or Malaria means you went somewhere tropical. Therefore, the disease is exotic because your trip was exotic. Getting West Nile Virus while at the cabin is not so exotic.

oh, yes.

so, where's the comedy?

Maybe it is more tragic to get an exotic mosquito born disease, or associated with more traumatic events so comedy is a natural ally. "Hey, at least my eyes didn't pop out of my head! I only got Dengue Fever."

Is that even funny?

It's very subtle but isn't that the way of comedy? Calling in sick to work with Dengue Fever - hilarious. Calling in with West Nile - not so much.

hahahahahahaha

Now I get it.

Sick.
