mask 2

I've been hasty about both masks. I make them in a flurry. You can even see the glue on my chin under the leaf in this one because I didn't wait for it to dry and it peeled off some. There's something I like about the speed; they are as temporary as I can possibly make them. And yet, I want to make myself pay more attention to them and make that attention manifest into self-attention.

I'd been thinking about painting my face. Then I came home and did this. It is the beginning of something. Stay posted.

invisible idea

I like the idea of the invisiblia, but I'm not much of a photoshop painter. I did a slight modification on the original idea.

Self Portrait Challenge

Alpha suggested that I submit one of the pinhole self portraits to the self portrait challenge. May's theme is on the street.

digital pinhole

I just made a pinhole lens for my Nikon D70. I used the body cap as the new lens and I made a minuscule hole in the center of it. These were taken at ISO 800 with a 13 second exposure. I think I'll need to make the pinhole a little bigger so I can use shorter exposures.

Results from portrait party

A few months ago I went to a friend of a friend's portrait party. Mark is a professional photographer who is/was doing a project about portraits and the evolution of people's expressions in conversation. I participated and had a blast, and got a new appreciation for all the minute facial expressions we make and change constantly.

Needless to say, here is one of the many images he took... of me. I just got the images back tonight, so I thought I'd make a post and give you all his link so you could check him out. I was inspired, maybe you will be too.

I've also been experiencing a bout of low self esteem the last couple of days, so I figure posting my own face here - even though it makes me feel squeamish and shy - is a good cathartic exercise. Not Catholic. Cathartic.

Out.

shadows

I'm obsessed with shadows. I see them everywhere. As I was talking on the phone tonight I noticed the shadows playing on my forearm where I was holding my hammock over my head.

The more I push the saturation and contrast the more it looks like scales.
